Drafting · Response preparation · Overflow support

Patent drafting and responses. Personally prepared. Fee agreed in advance.

Experienced, personally prepared support for defined patent drafting and response assignments, including overflow capacity for in-house patent teams and professional representatives. Work is focused principally on mechanical, electromechanical and medical technology. Scope, timetable and a commercially attractive fixed fee are agreed before work begins.

No generative AI drafting

Senior-level work, personally prepared. Client technical materials are not submitted to generative AI systems to produce the work product.

Defined-fee support

Defined patent tasks, without an open-ended bill.

Vertus undertakes discrete drafting and response assignments for corporate clients, in-house patent departments and professional representatives. After a short review, the deliverable, timing and commercially attractive fixed fee are confirmed in writing.

Experience behind the work

Experienced work. Personally prepared.

All substantive drafting and response preparation is undertaken personally by a European Patent Attorney who qualified in 1996.

Vertus works principally in mechanical engineering, electromechanical technologies and medical technology. The practice is led by Keith Boden, a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi). His technical background includes a BSc in Materials Science and Engineering and a PhD in Physics.

01 Personally drafted

The attorney you speak with is the attorney who prepares the substantive work.

02 No generative AI

No generative AI is used to draft the work product.

03 Proportionate fee

A commercially attractive fixed fee is agreed for the defined task.

How it works

A straightforward start.

Every enquiry begins with a formal conflict-of-interest check. Once the matter has been cleared, a short initial review allows Vertus to define the individual assignment, completed deliverable, timetable and fee before substantive work begins.

1

Conflict check

Email a brief, non-confidential outline of the proposed assignment and identify the relevant parties. A formal conflict-of-interest check begins immediately on receipt, and Vertus will confirm promptly whether the matter can be accepted.

2

Agree scope and fee

Following clearance, provide the relevant materials. Vertus confirms the defined deliverable, timing and commercially attractive fixed fee in writing.

3

Receive the completed draft

The agreed work is undertaken personally and delivered for review or onward use, without generative AI producing the work product.

Clear boundaries

Certainty comes from a defined task.

  • The fixed fee is based on the materials, complexity and deliverable agreed at the outset.
  • The agreed fee covers the particular drafting deliverable and materials identified in the written scope.
  • Any material change to the agreed scope is discussed before further work or cost is incurred.

Where could Vertus add capacity?

Begin with a brief, non-confidential description of the drafting or response assignment, its timing and the relevant parties. Vertus will complete a conflict check before asking for confidential materials.
